FALL 2024 BOYS TENNIS SEASON BEGINS: AUGUST 12, 2024...

TIME: 3:00 PM

Players are required to have all physicals, forms, and fees into the LP Athletic Department in order to try out on
August 12, 2024.

August 12, Day 1, Meet outside at LP tennis courts. In the event of weather, we will meet at the LP tennis courts and be directed to a location indoors.

Day 1 is used to meet, gather contact information in order to communicate, distribute tryout information, confirm all the necessary forms and fees have been submitted into the LP Athletic Office, and determine the number of players on the team.

Depending on the number of players involved, team tryouts will begin to take place at that time.

ALL PLAYERS PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PLAY ON DAY ONE.

TEAM MAKEUP: Due to the limited number of courts and concern for quality in each players practice and development, ONLY the top 29 players who have gone through the tryout process will be considered members of the VARSITY TEAM (Top 11 players 1,2,3 singles and 1,2,3,4 doubles) and JUNIOR VARSITY TEAM( Remaining top 18 total players after 11 Varsity players have been chosen). Should greater than 29 players tryout for the team, the following restrictions will take place: Only Senior players who make the VARSITY TEAM or who are among the top 3 players on the Junior Varsity team will be eligible to take a Junior Varsity position from a newer player. As a top 3 JV player there is always the opportunity of being needed to swing up to the Varsity Team. Players who are not among the top 29 players after tryouts take place will not be considered members of either LP TENNIS VARSITY or JUNIOR VARSITY TEAMS.

Tryouts are for the purpose of determining the TOP 11 players in the program who will become the VARSITY TEAM and the next top 18 players who will make up the JUNIOR VARSITY TEAM .

.

DAILY PRACTICE SCHEDULE prior to school in session, will be at 3:00 PM but the ending practice is TBA: Practice schedules will be communicated by e-mail and times may change based upon school schedules and predicted weather.

"Storm the Tower"
Thank you for your interest in Lewis-Palmer Ranger Tennis. As a school and a team, we have developed a history of quality tennis teams made up of fine students and athletes. Through a philosophy of sportsmanship and honor, our tennis teams have developed a winning history. The Lewis-Palmer Tennis Program has long been considered among the top high school tennis programs for many years. Success is however not simply the number of wins, placements, trophies and titles. For all the titles cannot replace a positive playing environment, team experience and developing  players of good character.

~ Paul Kardel, Varsity Coach - Lewis-Palmer Boys/Girls Tennis since 1999.

"Tennis is a perfect combination of violent action taking place in an atmosphere of tranquility."

"Tennis is like chess at 90MPH."

"Tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love. The basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature."

Andre Agassi

During each season each player will take their own personal journey, both alone and together as a team. Can each of us improve not only as a player on the tennis court but as a teammate and a person off the court?

Can the skills we learn on court have value and transfer both into the classroom and throughout our daily life?

"I fear no one, but respect everyone."

Roger Federer

In order to become better than someone else, we must first become better than ourselves.

"You are never really playing an opponent. You are playing yourself, your own highest standards, and when you reach your limits. That is real joy."

Arther Ashe

"When you hit the perfect tennis shot it feels like mind, body and soul are integrated for a perfect moment."

Billie Jean King

"Losing is not my enemy. Fear of losing is my enemy."

Rafael Nadal

It is important to view tennis or for that matter any sport as an experiment. As in any experiment, we may succeed but we also may fail. Failure is not to be seen as negative but simply the opposite side of the same coin. The other side being success. The coin is that of doing, participating and involvement.

"A man who wins is a man who thinks he can."

Roger Federer

"Champions are merely contenders who refused to quit." "Don't let anybody work harder than you do."

Serena Williams

The Lewis-Palmer Boys Tennis Team has 5 First Place Regional titles.
Six-time second place Regional finishes.
Placed within the top ten finishes in State several years.
The team has amassed many First and Second place finishes and trophies in season tournaments.

“Tennis can be described as boxing with a ball."

Tennis is reality.

These are challenging times in terms of cyber and virtual addiction. It is important to move more body parts than simply our index finger and thumbs.

Interacting with teammates and the reality of actually participating physically lends great benefit to each player both mentally and physically.

Tennis is a lifelong sport.

As we get older it becomes increasingly more difficult to gather a group of participants needed for many other sports.

For tennis singles, ONLY one other person is needed. For tennis doubles, ONLY three other players are required to play.

Tennis can be played and enjoyed for a lifetime.

Tennis is a safe sport.

The incidences of serious injury in tennis are far below the average sport in occurrence.

With concussions and injury to the brain being among the lowest in incidences among active sports.
