English Language Acquisition
Class Description/Detalles de la clase
English Language Acquisition is a course tailored to individual student needs based on yearly WIDA testing and core high school content (i.e. English, science, etc.). The class is based on a collection of individual student goals chosen from "Can-Do Proficiencies" that are next steps in English proficiency. Speaking, listening, reading, and writing are all addressed to varying degrees based on student needs. This class provides an elective credit, small group instruction, and support by a group of students in varying stages of English proficiency.

Students are graded on their writing based on their individual writing proficiency level. For example, a student with a WIDA writing level 3 will be graded in column three on this rubric. As students improve, the level difficulty increases to higher levels (a level 3 would be graded with a level 4).
